Setup, help and claims.

Most things are a short answer. If yours is not here, write.

Setup

  1. Place the speakers on the desk, the tweeters at ear height when you sit, about as far apart as they are from you. The angled base is already cut to your numbers.
  2. Place the sub on the floor, the plinth's rear panel towards the wall. Give the bottom vent air; do not stand it on carpet pile deeper than the feet.
  3. Speaker cable from the plinth's binding posts to each speaker: red to red, black to black.
  4. Optical cable from the PC to the plinth. In Windows, pick the optical output as the sound device.
  5. Power. One cord to the plinth. The speakers come up about a second after the switch.
  6. The controller. Put it where your hand rests. It links to the plinth by itself. Turn for volume on the PC with a press-and-turn once ODD Library runs; swipe for the apps.
  7. Wi-Fi (optional). Pull up from the bottom of the screen → Wi-Fi. Scan the QR code with your phone, pick your network. Wi-Fi is only for updates and ODD Library; everything plays without it.
  8. ODD Library (optional). Install it on the PC that plays the music (below). It brings Now Playing, cues and loops, and the PC's volume to the knob.

ODD Library

A small app that sits in the Windows tray. It tells the controller what the PC is playing (cover, title, time, BPM), takes the knob's seek, play, pause and skip, keeps the song library with every cue and loop you set, and sets the PC's volume when you press and turn.

Questions

Does it need Wi-Fi?

No. The controller and the plinth talk by their own radio link. Wi-Fi is only for updates and for ODD Library.

What can play into it?

A PC over optical. The speakers also have binding posts, so any amplifier can drive them. A line input for DJ gear is planned; it is not shipping yet.

What do the presets do?

Production is flat, for checking a mix, with the tone controls locked. Signature is the default voicing. Club adds sub and kick. Bass Boost adds more. Each one is level-matched and measured. Mono sums left and right, to hear a mix the way a phone or a club would.

Can the sub be damaged by turning it up?

No. A limiter in the DSP sits after every control and caps each coil at 14.9 V, under the amplifiers' clean limit. It was measured, at every preset and knob position.

How does room tuning work when you are far away?

On a video call the room is measured from your seat: the sweeps play from your PC, and the correction is made from them and sent to the speakers as an update. If you move, ask for a new tuning.

How do updates arrive?

Over Wi-Fi. The controller shows a badge; hold the knob for 1.5 s on the Updates row to install. Updates are signed, and a failed one rolls back to the last good one by itself.

What is Labs?

Features on trial: Virtual bass, Kick punch, Room EQ on or off, Loudness, Mono. They are switched on from ODD Library and ship once they pass testing.

Is there a Mac version of ODD Library?

Not today. ODD Library is for Windows. The speakers and the controller work with any source that has an optical output.

Can the speakers be used with another amplifier?

Yes. Each speaker keeps its passive crossover and has standard binding posts.

What is planned?

Planned, not shipping: a line input for DJ gear. New features and tunings arrive as updates. Nothing on this site is promised until it ships.
