The system

ODD MK.1

Two speakers on KEF's Uni-Q coaxial driver. A 10-inch sub in a plinth that holds every amplifier and the DSP. One controller with its own screen. Built to order, numbered, and tuned to the room it lands in.

The speakers

One point source each

The tweeter sits in the centre of the woofer, so highs and lows leave from one point. KEF's own crossover stays inside, behind standard binding posts: any amplifier can drive the pair later.

The cabinet is black MDF at 870 kg/m³ with a solid white oak front. Three braces are cut 2 mm short of every wall and the gap is filled with butyl, the damping method found inside the LS50. Glued airtight. No screws. 7.9 litres inside, measured two ways.

A three-piece port, two printed flares and a foam sleeve between them, tuned to 46.7 Hz. The underside is cut at an angle set by your seat, so the driver aims at your ears.

The sub and plinth

Deep bass, off the cones

A 10-inch sealed sub fires down into the gap above its plinth. It takes the deep bass, so the coaxial cones stay clean in the mids.

The plinth is ballasted with steel shot. Inside it: the DSP, two amplifier boards and the power supply. One cord to the floor and nothing else on the desk. Air comes in through a vent in the bottom and leaves through the rear panel, a quiet chimney.

The sub has a limiter in the DSP after every control. It caps each coil at 14.9 V, just under the amplifiers' clean limit. Turn it all the way up: it holds.

The controller

One knob, its own screen

A round touch screen inside a knurled aluminium knob, on an angled stand. It talks to the plinth by radio and to your PC over Wi-Fi.

Apps: Sound (SUB, BASS, MID, TREBLE with a live sub meter), Stage (crosstalk cancelling set to your seat), Presets (Production, Signature, Club, Bass Boost), Now Playing with cues and loops for whatever your PC plays, and Labs for features on trial.

Updates arrive over Wi-Fi, signed. A failed one rolls itself back. What has arrived so far.

Measured figures come from the first system. Each build is measured again in its own room.

Tuned in your room

Measured at your seat, sent as an update

On a video call, the room is measured from where you sit; the sweeps play from your PC through the optical input. The correction is made from those measurements and sent to your speakers over Wi-Fi. Move house, and it can be done again.

Made for one desk

Your numbers set the cabinet

Ear height, the distance to each speaker and the width of the desk set the angle the speakers are cut at. Send them with your request, or measure them together on the first call.
